彼らは異口同音に言う。「日本ほど学ぶことを馬鹿にしきっている社会はみたことがない」。社会では、学校でやったことは役にたたない、という言い方が充満し、学校では、勉強するのは空気が読めないＫＹだけであり、寝るところと思っているものが多いからだ。

小学校低学年までは、子供はぐんぐん伸びる。知る喜び、大きくなる喜びと責任感で伸びる。だが大きくなるにつれて伸びたがらなくなる。社会がそんなこと無駄だ、要領よく立ち回り、面倒は人に押し付けろ、と毎日言っているからではないか？
